Chris Crites painted his first four mug shots in acrylic on a paper bag in 1999. Since 2002 he has been painting arrest photographs in acrylic, and has developed and refined his brightly colored, limited palette style. Adding popular culture icons, musicians, commissioned portraiture, mushroom clouds, nudes, and firearms to his body of work, Crites has shown and been published across the United States.
He holds degrees in graphic design and art, and is also an independent curator and lives in Seattle with his wife and cats. He’s joining us by the courtesies of the G. Gibson Gallery.
