Heather Lende is the author of If You Lived Here, I’d Know Your Name (Algonquin 2005) and Take Good Care of the Garden and the Dogs (Algonquin 2010). Her columns and essays have appeared in such diverse places as Woman’s Day, NPR’s Morning Edition, The Anchorage Daily News, National Geographic Traveler, The Christian Science Monitor, Washington Post, Alaska Dispatch, the Journal of Florida Literature and Country Living.
She also writes the obituaries for her hometown weekly paper, the Chilkat Valley News. Heather has a BA from Middlebury College and an MFA from the University of Alaska Anchorage. A mother of five and grandmother of three, she has lived in tiny Haines, Alaska since 1984. She is currently working on another non-fiction book for Algonquin and a novel.
